ELAN 2005 Meeting in Croatia

Transport alternatives

(A) Fly, drive, cycle or walk to Split (the closest town to island Hvar on the mainland of Croatia). Hop on a ferry to Stari Grad - than you are there! The ticket costs 5 EUR per person while a car and other vehicles are more pricy. A regular size passenger car costs approximately 25 EUR one-way crossing.

(B) Fly, drive, cycle or walk to Rijeka (town north of Croatian coast). Hop on a night ferry to Stari Grad (it will take you approximately 14 hours of pleasurable boat ride on the Adriatic Sea. The ticket costs around 16 EUR. The cheapest is sleeping on the deck but you can always get yourself a bed in a cabin for an extra 20 EUR.

An easy way to get to Split is to drive, since Croatia have just finished building the new highway all the way to Split from Zagreb and it will take you approximately 4 hours drive (Zagreb-Split).

We welcome any enthusiastic drivers, since it would enable us to move more freely around the island. In addition, if you are not satisfied with our programme, you can always escape on your own. The island is full of wonders to explore.
